Frequently Asked Questions

Got any questions? We’re here to answer.

  • Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a membership-based healthcare model that allows us to provide exceptional care without the limitations of traditional insurance-based systems. By cutting out the middlemen, we can focus on what matters most: you.  This means unhurried appointments, personalized attention, and proactive care focused on keeping you healthy and happy.

  • No. Become Health is a direct primary care (DPC) practice, which differs from traditional concierge practices. Concierge practices bill your insurance and charge copays in addition to a membership fee, while DPC eliminates insurance billing entirely. DPCs are also more accessible for those between insurance plans or underinsured.

  • We recommend scheduling a 15 min meet and greet to ensure a good fit and to answer any questions you may have. If you are ready to sign up, go to:

  • No. We believe the insurance-based system results in rushed, low-quality, reactionary primary care. Patients deserve better. By cutting out middlemen, we focus on providing proactive, personalized, and unrushed care that keeps patients healthy and happy.

If you have insurance, you may use it for medications (HMO or PPO), labs, imaging, and referrals (PPO only).

  • Yes. Become Health does not replace health insurance. While we provide primary care regardless of insurance status, we strongly recommend maintaining coverage for larger medical expenses like surgeries, hospitalizations, and specialist care. Insurance can also help cover prescription medications.

  •  Yes! Ask yourself:

    • Do you have your doctor’s cell phone number?

    • Can you get an appointment when you need one?

    • Are you seen on time?

    • Does your doctor spend more than 15 minutes with you?

    • Can you text your doctor with follow-up questions?

    • Does their office return your calls?

    • Do they tell you the prices of tests they order?

    • Have you ever received an unexpected medical bill?

Become Health provides quality, access, convenience, and transparency that insurance-based primary care cannot match.

  • Even if you’re healthy, almost everyone has areas they’d like to improve or optimize. Meaningful health improvements require personalized, unrushed care and consistent follow-up—something a one-time visit or 15-minute annual physical cannot provide.

Our membership fosters long-term health and a trusting relationship with your doctor, so you’re prepared for any unexpected health changes. Your membership does not require a long-term commitment and can be canceled with 30 days notice.

  • Nearly 80% of patients with high-deductible plans never meet their deductible, and they often pay up to 10 times more for services than cash prices. By cutting out inefficiencies and middlemen, we significantly reduce costs.

    Examples:

    • Office Visits:

      • Without insurance: $150–$300

      • With insurance: $35 copay + surprise bill (a cost that neither your doctor nor your insurance can provide you beforehand and which you will receive in the mail about 2-12 months after the service, may include denied services, miscoded services, facility fees, radiology/pathology fees and other miscellaneous charges)

      • With membership to Become Health: $0

    • Lab Work (CBC, CMP, TSH, Hemoglobin A1c, Lipid Panel):

      • Without insurance: $150–$400

      • With insurance: $150–$200 (on average)

      • With Become Health: $15

    • Imaging (e.g., neck MRI):

      • Without insurance: $1,200–$2,500

      • With insurance: ~25% copay + surprise bill + 3–5 day delay

      • With Become Health: $450

  • Many patients choose to use their HSA or FSA, however, we recommend consulting your tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.

  • Become Health is primarily office and telehealth-based. However, Dr. Jackson may consider home visits on a case-by-case basis for an additional fee.

  • As much as she wishes she were Superwoman, alas, Dr. Jackson is a mere mortal. She also has a family including 4 kids. Dr. Jackson is dedicated to your care but is not available 24/7. During weekday hours (M-F), she will respond to urgent needs as quickly as possible, even outside of office hours. After dinner time or on weekends, if she does not respond, please seek appropriate care via urgent care or an emergency room if necessary.

  • We recommend all age-appropriate and condition-appropriate vaccinations. Vaccines are expensive, but we are working to establish partnerships to provide them through insurance, the State Health Department, or cash price options.

  • Dr. Jackson does not provide hormone therapy or gender-affirming surgeries for transgender care, but she's happy to address their other health needs as a primary care provider. Transgender healthcare is complex and often requires a team approach. Dr. Jackson can offer referrals to specialists who provide these specific services and coordinate with them to ensure comprehensive care for all aspects of one’s health.

  • Become Health does not:

    • Provide obstetric care

    • Perform major surgeries

    • Manage chronic opioid, Suboxone, or benzodiazepine prescriptions

Dr. Jackson is a board-certified Family Physician capable of treating patients of all ages but may refer you to a specialist if your condition requires more specific expertise.
